Corporate Counsel (Franchise)

Primary Location: Beverly, MA (25 miles north of Boston, on the North Shore)

 Specific Job Summary and Expected Contributions

 The attorney in this position will initially focus on providing transactional legal assistance including:

  • Providing advice and assuring compliance with franchise regulatory requirements (including preparation of franchise disclosure documents and registering franchise programs with state regulators), franchise relationship laws and other relevant laws
  • Representing Dessange with respect to reviewing, drafting and negotiating franchise agreements, development agreements and other franchise related documents
  • General corporate contract drafting and review
  • Managing legal responses to compliance issues
  • Providing day-to-day advice and training related to franchising and DGNA's franchise systems
  • Providing support and assistance for ongoing corporate acquisitions
  • Providing support in litigation management
  • Oversight of trademark filings, management and maintenance

Candidate Profile

  • Excellent academic record with a law degree from a top U.S. law school
  • Active bar membership
  • Minimum of 5+ years of legal experience
  • Franchising and contract experience
  • Excellent drafting and negotiating skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Smart and business savvy – able to focus on achieving business goals while protecting DGNA
  • Strong business ethics and personal integrity
  • Ability to think strategically and provide leadership when needed
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of and effectively resolve problems – needs to be a self-starter with a high degree of resourcefulness
  • Solid organizational and time management skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and change priorities quickly and comfortably
  • Professional presence and approach
  • Balanced judgment and poise under pressure
  • Flexibility for travel
